If you think back to your childhood and your experience at school I have no doubt that it is the special days you remember. At Wookey Primary School we try to give our children as many real life memorable learning experiences as we can. We do this as we want them to remember their days fondly, but also because we believe that these experiences can be a hook for meaningful learning that really stays with them. Here are just a selection of the memorable experiences our children have had over the last 2 years. Click on any of the images and explore the slider galleries below to find out more.
'The Big Draw 2019'
We were delighted to be chosen to take part in 'The Big Draw' event this year at Hauser and Wirth in Bruton. Willow Class had an amazing time learning about the artist David Smith, viewing some of his art, and exploring ways in which they could use different media to replicate his style. Check out some photos from the day in the gallery below.
Field to Food Day 2019 (our visit to The Bath and West Showground to find out how our food reaches our plate.)
Enterprise Day 2019 (our KS2 pupils planned a way of making a profit from a £5 initial investment and then we invited parents and our younger children to the event)
Class visits to Pizza Express
Ux2 Days 2018/19 - This year we worked on a project with an organisation called UX2, designed to develop leadership, independence, resilience and engagement in our children. UX2 visited us every term and challenged our children to move outside their comfort zone in a number of army-based training activities.
World Book Day 2019
Wookey Bakeoff 2018. This is an exciting annual event where all the children cook a 'technical challenge' and a 'showstopper' for the judges.
Oak Class were interviewed on BBC Radio Bristol when they visited Wells Museum to experience their WWI trench. Click below to listen to their comments.
